Azalea Park In Summerville SC

Your trip to Summerville is incomplete without a visit to the Azalea Park. It is a small but beautifully landscaped garden that is located in the heart of the city. The park is located in the corner of East 4th street and South Magnolia Street. This park extends over several city blocks and offers a spectacular display of seasonal flowers every spring. All throughout the year, many people visit the park for a nice and relaxing walk.

Every year, the Azalea Festival is organized in the park. This is one of the largest outdoor festivals organized in the Southeast. During these festivities, the park draws tremendous crowd. When the park is free of these festivities, you can enjoy walking among garden walkways, majestic pines, and ponds. The park is well laid out with a series of pathways that wind around the park. When walking on the pathways, you can enjoy the beautiful ponds, statues, creeks, and of course flowers. When visiting the park, it is in your interest to get a brochure. This will give you an idea of the important areas of the park and explains the brief history of the sculptures.

The park opens at 5 am and closes at 10 pm. Both parking and admission is free, so you don’t have to worry about paying high admission fee that most parks charge. You can also take your pet with you to the park, as there is no restriction on pet entry. For holding an official or social meeting at the park, you must get prior permission from park authorities. The best time to visit the park is in the month of March, when azaleas are out in full force and the park comes alive with vibrant colors. If you are visiting the park with your kids, make sure they check out the rocks that are decorated by other visitors. You could also paint your rock and leave it for other visitors to find.
